Approximately 55,000 homes have reportedly been impacted by the rains, with their possessions and shelters ruined.

Persistent storms over the last seven days have worsened the precarious situation of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the region, according to humanitarian groups.

"Terrible" Night Creates Serious Threats

A spokesman detailed the recent storm as "terrible", with rain so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"These conditions was truly terrible for the residents. The storms were so intense... And the winds were so powerful," stated the spokesperson.

Officials express extreme concern that children living in temporary structures in soaked garments will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Casualties and Extensive Damage

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has passed away from the cold and at least 11 other people have died in building collapses triggered by the severe weather.

Other reports put a higher number of casualties. Officials said that numerous homes had fully given way and scores had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by the weather.
  • More than 40 official refuges submerged.
  • Countless residents forced to move once more.

Assistance Distribution Considered Not Enough

Groups have increased shipments of tents, blankets and clothing since the ceasefire started, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to provide that aid and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the requirements is so enormous that we continue to see many thousands of individuals and minors who are really enduring hardship nightly," stated one official.

Future Issues and Truce Provisions

The subsequent part of the agreement involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of personnel, and other provisions.

Aid groups have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to meet immediate and long-term requirements."

The war was triggered by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent actions have led to a high number of fatalities in the territory, according to health ministry reports.
