The Game UN:Me: An Cerebral Thriller That Blends Silent Hill and Among Us Gameplay

The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled several fascinating future games, but one in particular has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player adventure appears to blend the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill game with the suspicion-driven core of Among Us.

"This is a unique experience where a young woman harboring several personalities inside her must escape from a maze of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai.

Stepping Into a Shattered Mind

In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of high school age. Within her reside four distinct personas, each with their own anxieties and motivations. These entities can take over spontaneously, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her suddenly.

Judging by revealed footage, much of the action unfolds within a eerie medical facility, though additional clips depict the main character exploring a abandoned church.

An Environment of Individual Horror

"What are you fearful of? What makes you uneasy?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. People in power. Things that appear minor to others can trigger something primal inside us. This game delves into that concept — fears that are specific to each person."

The core mechanic involves controlling the persona that surfaces at a particular moment. However, these souls will change involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, each soul's fears become amplified and assault the protagonist one after another. As the persona changes, so does the particular terror the player encounters.

Unsettling Visuals and a Fatal Choice

Initially, UN:Me displays striking aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill series. The hospital is populated by orderlies all sporting the identical visage, with unnervingly wide grins. Figures in the lobby have large flowers where their necks should be. Floral motifs are a recurring theme, juxtaposing natural beauty with supernatural dread.

Yet, UN:Me presents a unique twist. Players must determine which of the four entities inhabiting the protagonist is the "real" one. "Each of the souls claims that the physical form belongs to them," notes a developer. "During the game, you need to figure out who is authentic."

After a player believes a soul is fake, they must eliminate it. However, because every entity can lie or hide the reality, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake.

"Maybe you've already eliminated the real [soul] with your own hands," a voice suggests. "The final entity remaining could be a fraud. In any case, your choices are final."

UN:Me currently lacks a confirmed release date, but it is available to wishlist on platforms.
