President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Community members came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that educators wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, informed the media. “She was kind, caring and always ready to support those in need.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The incident led the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and cease providing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” he informed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
